| چکیده | ||
| برای تبیین انواع گوناگونی برشمرده‌‌‌‌اند. این جستار ضمن بررسی برخی از این انواع مانند تبیین علمی و تبیینِ عادی یا غیرعلمی، تبیینِ ناقص یا جزئی و تبیینِ کامل یا تمام، تبیین علّی و تبیین غیرعلّی، تبیین کارکردی، تبیین غایت‌‌‌‌شناختی و... مهم‌‌‌‌ترین نظریه‌‌‌‌های تبیین علمی را مطالعه می‌‌‌‌کند. رایج‌‌‌‌ترین نظریه‌‌‌‌ای که آغازگر بحث جدی تبیین در قرن بیستم بود، نظریۀ قانون فراگیر تبیین، شامل دو الگوی قیاسی- قانونی و استقرایی- آماری است. نقدهایی که در نیمۀ دوم قرن بیستم به این نظریه شد، راه را برای نظریه‌‌‌‌های دیگر گشود. بر پایة این نقدها، الگوهایی برای تبیین علمی مطرح شد. از مهم‌‌‌‌ترین این الگوها، یکی الگویِ ربط آماری وسلی سمن است که با بیانی از سازوکارهای علّی تکمیل شده است و دیگری الگویِ وحدت‌‌‌‌بخشی تبیین که مایکل فریدمن طرح اولیۀ آن را ریخت و فیلیپ کیچر آن را شرح و بسط داد. این جستار نشان خواهد داد که چگونه هر یک از این الگوهای مختلف از نواقص الگوهای پیشین فاصله می‌‌‌‌گیرند. | ||

| In philosophical literature it has been enumerated different types of explanation such as scientific and ordinary, full and partial, causal and non-causal, functional explanations. By distinguishing these different explanations from each other, this paper provides an introduction to the discussion of theories of scientific explanation. The standard view about the nature of scientific explanation is the covering law model of explanation which is further divided into two sorts: deductivenomological and inductive- probabilistic or statistical explanation. Difficulties faced by the covering model gave way to alternative models. And various alternative views about explanation have been developed, among them it can be cited Salmon's statistical relevance model which based on causal mechanism and Friedman and Kitcher's explanatory unification. This paper shows how later models avoid difficulties of earlier ones. | ||
